AI Designs

AI generated designs are a great way to visualize what your custom apparel design could look like. While these tools are great for brainstorming and inspiration, AI images are not directly usable for production. Here’s why:

AI images are raster files, not vector files.

AI tools export artwork as raster images (JPEG, PNG, WebP). These are made of pixels, which means:

  • They blur or pixelate when resized. Do the "zoom test." If you zoom in too far, you see a blurry, blocky grid.

  • Edges are not clean or defined

  • Colors and shapes cannot be separated for printing.

Vector files are made of mathematical formulas instead of tiny colored squares (pixels). They rely on geometry and use anchor points, curves, and paths to build artwork that can scale infinitely without losing quality.  They can be scaled from the size of a business card to a billboard without ever getting blurry or losing quality.

Before we can use your AI design, please ask your AI platform to:
  1. Use Champion System templates. Example prompt: "Create a Fourth of July themed cycling jersey based on champion system template."
  2. Provide Pantone PMS Coated colors codes. Example Prompt: "Please provide the Pantone PMS Coated color codes for this design."
  3. List fonts used. Example prompt: "Please provide typefaces used in this design."
  4. Ask your AI platform to create a separate rendering with the following instructions
"Strip away photo-realistic shadows, complex fabric textures, and gradients. Use flat, solid colors, clean geometric lines, and a plain background so vector-tracing tools like Adobe Illustrator can process the shapes cleanly."
AI design often have inconsistencies so please review your design and give us instruction for design inconsistencies. (See examples images below)
Additionally, please provide us vector based or very high resolution image files for any logos to be used.
These simple steps help us tremendously to bring your design to life.

REAL AI EXAMPLE
Here are the results we received by following those prompts:
Create a Fourth of July themed cycling jersey based on champion system template.

Watch for design inconsistencies:

So which left sleeve design is it? Bold stripes or paint brush stroke stripes?

Why the one six-sided star?

What's with the small flag covering the zipper on the collar? That won't work. Jerseys don't do that.

Where on the back pocket does the CS logo actually go? Left, right, or center?

Please provide the Pantone PMS Coated color codes for this design.
Color table information is perfect. Pantone PMS Coated color codes should end in a single "C."
Please provide typefaces used in this design.
Typeface (font) information. Sometimes the typefaces listed aren't exactly what we see in the design,
but we will follow the listed typeface unless it is clearly inaccurate.

Strip away photo-realistic shadows, complex fabric textures, and gradients. Use flat, solid colors, clean geometric lines, and a plain background so vector-tracing tools like Adobe Illustrator can process the shapes cleanly.

This more "flat" design will allow graphic design programs like Adobe Illustrator convert this image to a vector file. We may need to find vector based substitutes for some of the design items if they do not convert well. You will always get the opportunity to review and approve proofs before they are used.
